Hearing that your child has PDD, Autism, Tourette's Syndrome, Asperger's,Epilepsy, Down Syndrome, (or any other handicapping condition) is probably the most painful news any parent can receive. You have no idea how you are going to deal with it, what it will mean to you personally, or how it will effect your marriage and your family over the coming years. PDD Autism Tourette's Asperger's Syndrome Epilepsy Down Syndrome Do You Feel Completely Overwhelmed? You may feel that this is more than you can handle. That you won't be able to have the good quality of life that you have worked so hard to accomplish for you and your family. You may find that hard to understand or believe right now, but you can have a good life, a life that is actually fulfilling. I know that you can do this! Please Understand, You Are Not alone! We've Been There! I have created this web site to help people just like you and me, because this is the kind of help I needed but couldn't find, as we struggled to raise our children. I remember the grief, disappointment, and confusion I felt as we learned that three of our four children experienced autism, Tourette's and epilepsy (in varying degrees and combinations). However, raising our children has been a tremendously rewarding experience that has brought us a great deal of joy. You can have a good life, a life that is actually fulfilling. Our lives have been rich and full because of our children, not in spite of them. Summary As I observe other families who have children with special needs, I feel a great desire to share the things we have learned: those things that have made our life rich and full. The purpose of this website is to provide hope and encouragement to other parents of special needs children. I sincerely hope that you find that here. Read about each of our children by clicking on their names, printed below their baby pictures.
